Abstract

Evaluation of Impulsity and Eating Attitude in Patients wiht a Diagnosis of Alcohol Use Disorder Objective: In this study, the relationship between impulsivity and eating attitude was examined in individuals with alcohol use disorder and nonalcohol use individuals. Method: It was conducted as a cross-sectional study involving participants with alcohol use disorders and no alcohol use. The participants who were diagnosed with alcohol use disorder were interviewed with patients hospitalized in the AMATEM service of NP Istanbul Brain Hospital (N=58). Participants were evaluated with Sociodemographic Information Form, Eating Attitude Test, Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11), Adult ADHD Scale. Results: It was observed that the number of male participants was higher among the group of patients diagnosed with alcohol use disorder (N = 58) and the control group (N = 60). It is seen that the study was done with early adults. When comparing the eating variables, impulsivity and ADHD dimensions, which are the research variables, in the patient group and control group, it was found that the eating attitude and impulsivity dimensions were higher in the patient group diagnosed with alcohol use disorder. In ADHD dimensions, only the attention deficit sub-dimension is higher than the control group. Conclusion: In this study, eating attitude and impulsivity scores were found higher in patients with alcohol use disorder.
