Abstract
Dialkylphosphinobis(dimethylamino)methanes of the type HCPR 2(NMe) 2 R = Me, Et, n−Bu) can be prepared from formamidinium salts as well as from animal esters and alkali phosphides and from sec-phosphines. The compounds decompose with halogen hydrides forming ▪ and [Me 2NH 2]X and the products of their slow dismutation are ▪ and HC(NMe 2) 3. The rate of the dismutation of e.g. HCPEt 2(NMe 2) and HCPEt 2(NMe)OMe is discussed in more details on the basis of their 1H NMR spectra. 1H and 31P NMR data of HCPR 2(NMe 2) 2 are also given.
