Abstract

The activation parameters of the base catalyzed reaction of triphenylsilane with water, in aqueous acetonitrile (ACN), indicate that the structure changes in the mixture play a determining role in the variations of the reaction rate. The activity coefficient of the catalyst OH− in these media is also discussed in terms of solvent effect.
