Abstract

It is the voices of young people that will resonate in your head after you have put this book down. The voices from across the continent of Europe are inevitably diverse but often nuanced, hopeful, idealistic, and cosmopolitan. Professor Alistair Ross was awarded a Jean Monnet personal chair in Citizenship Education in Europe by the European Commission in 2009, and this text brings together a lifetime’s experience of wrestling with issues related to social and political identities in educational contexts. The book combines rigorous empirical qualitative research with sophisticated conceptual and sociological analysis.
