Abstract

Excited states produced in electron-ion and ion-atom collisions are often aligned and the angular distribution of photons and Auger electrons resulting from the de-excitation of such states is, in general, not isotropic. We have investigated the angular distribution of photons and Auger electrons resulting from the de-excitation of collisionally aligned states of Fe23+ and O5+. The magnetic substrate cross sections for the electron impact excitation of Fe23+ and O5+ are also presented. These calculations were performed within the R-matrix formulation and the distorted wave approximation.
