Abstract

The synthesis of mechanical ideas and forms with the organic has long been central to the Surrealist project. Famed for his work on the 1979 film Alien, Swiss artist Hans Ruedi Giger epitomises this approach – as supremely demonstrated by his biomechanoid Museum Bar in Gruyéres, Switzerland. Guest‐Editor Neil Spiller takes us on a Surrealist‐inspired journey around it.
