Abstract

Intermittent violence against Rohingya population, since 1948, has forced a large number of them to take refuge in different parts of South Asia. Of the total Rohingya refugees, majority of them have taken refuge in Bangladesh putting a burden on Dhaka’s limited resources. This chapter examines the debates on Rohingya’s political identity. Second, this chapter discusses the citizenship issue in Myanmar and the report of Kofi Annan’s commission which recommended for bestowing full citizenship rights to Rohingya people.
