Abstract
Alfonso Vignoli was born on February 1, 1940, in Florence, one of the most beautiful cities in the world; this explains perhaps his extraordinary eye for esthetical beauty. His academic and personal curriculum is really impressive. His father, a traditional communist in the best sense of the word, decided to send him to the Soviet Union, the “paradise” of the working class, to study mathematics. So after 6 years of study Alfonso graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of the highly regarded Lomonossov State University of Moscow obtaining a Masters Degree in Physics in 1967. The corresponding Italian Diploma (laurea) in Physics was conferred on him in 1968 at the University of Florence.
