Abstract

Abstract This test was conducted in a 2-year-old alfalfa stand located at the University of Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station at Rosemount. Plots measuring 32 × 45 ft were replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. A single treatment was applied 21 Jul to exploit unusually late AW and high PLH infestations in the same trial. Applications were made using a Spirit sprayer, with 15-ft boom delivering 25 gpa at 40 psi; spray boom was configured with 13, TX-10 hollow cone nozzles at 15 inch spacing for an effective spray width of 16.25 ft. Treatments were applied between 1000-1200 h; wind speed was s 5 mph and temperature averaged 75°F. Treatments were evaluated 24 Jul (3 DAT), 29 Jul (8 DAT) and 4 Aug (14 DAT) by taking 10 pendulum sweeps/plot using a 15-inch diameter sweep net.
