Abstract

This article is a part of the research for the conclusion of the course in the Degree in Pedagogy, which aimed to understand the strategies used by teachers for literacy of immigrant children in the municipality of Videira, SC. The research was built from the discussions presented in the report of the Observatory of International Migrations (OBMIGRA, 2021), the Municipal Law n° 4.063/22, which institutes the municipal policy for the immigrant population. The research presents a qualitative approach and as an instrument for data collection, interviews with teachers and observation in their respective classes were used. The results demonstrate a disarticulation of educational policies, which affects the performance of teachers, who often do not know what to do in the classroom and therefore seek alternative means of literacy for immigrant children, in addition to showing that the literacy of these students is returns to a project that aims only at the acquisition of the Portuguese language as a means of learning, silencing his mother tongue and culture.
