Abstract

The coloring on this school work sheet was done by Alexis Barboza of New Bedford, Mass. Alexis is 6 years old and has been diagnosed as having Asperger syndrome. It was suggested to Alexis’s mother that her daughter needed a neurologic evaluation because she used more than one color on most of the images. Other people, however, commented on how beautiful the pictures are. The lesson is that a different perspective may make what we see more beautiful. Alexis’s developmental pediatrician, Dr Daniel Nussbaum II, submitted the coloring. Her primary care pediatrician is Dr Alexander Portnoy. Alexis’s mother gave permission for publication, as did EnchantedLearning.com.
