Abstract
The article describes the history of one of the most important discoveries of the twentieth century in the history of medicine – the invention of penicillin by A. Fleming. The greatest role of the discovery is shown, which gave rise to the era of antibiotics, thanks to which millions of people were saved in subsequent years.
