Abstract

Aleochara tristis Gravenhorst was introduced into the United States from France in February 1965. In the laboratory, young larvae of A. tristis enter puparia of the face fly, Musca autumnalis De Geer, and feed on the pupae. Development to the adult stage is completed within the Fly puparia. The adult A. tristis inhabit cattle droppings and prey on larvae of dung-breeding insects. Laboratory rearing has been in progress 1 year, and techniques have been evolved for establishing and maintaining a colony.
