Abstract

This review article examines the incidence of alcoholism, and insofar a possible, other forms of drug abuse, among gays and lesbians in the United States and one European society. The consensus is that about 25% of such persons suffer from definitive drug and alcohol abuse problems, while an additional percentage experience “suggestive or problematic” abuse patterns.
