Abstract
Alchornea lojaensis, a new species of Euphorbiaceae collected in tropical montane rainforest of Ecuador is described and illustrated. The species belongs to the group of Alchornea with pinnately nerved leaves and its affinities and differences in relation to A. discolor and A. fluviatilis are discussed.
