Abstract

Radiative transfer problem in an absorbing, scattering and homogeneous semi-infinite medium with Rayleigh scattering subjected to externally incident radiation is considered. A trial function based on Case’s eigenmodes and exponential functions are used. The proposed method are used in the integral equations which transfer it to a system of algebraic equations in unknown expansion coefficients. Then expansion coefficients are used to calculate the albedo and the net flux at the boundary of the medium. Numerical results are reported and compared with the available published data and with that calculated by Variational Pomraning–Eddington method.
