Abstract

This research focuses on studying the hadiths that mention the light-hearted situations of the esteemed companion Al-Nuaiman bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) until he became known for it. The aim is to purify the record of this esteemed companion from the falsely attributed hadiths through tracing the hadiths in the collections of Sunnah. The research adopts both the inductive and deductive methodologies. The findings of this research indicate that there is no authentic hadith about the joking and humor of the honored companion Al-Nuaiman bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), except for one hadith related to his act of pretending to be a fortune teller, transmitted through a connected chain. One of the significant recommendations of the research is to pay attention to the lesser-known companions by tracking their biographies and studying what is attributed to them, as well as working on purifying the biographical books from what has been widely spread but is not authentic.
