Abstract

This essay examines the effects of war-induced emotional trauma on youth living in violently hostile zones. By focusing on the Palestinian youth theatre, Al-Rowwad's rehearsal and performance practices of the play We Are the Children of the Camp it endeavors to synthesize youth theatre with the spaces of traumatic healing, intervention, and adjustment as suggested by practitioners of trauma therapy. It assumes that theatre's multifaceted practices can potentially facilitate the process of survival rather than the process of victimization.
