Abstract

Sol–Gel alumina-titania supports were prepared by the co-gelling aluminum tri-sec-butoxide and titanium isopropoxide (10 wt.% TiO2) at pH 3 and pH 9. Supports showed specific surface areas higher than 250 m2/g, and Lewis acidity was observed by FTIR pyridine adsorption. Cu°, Cu1+ and Cu2+species on impregnated Cu/Al2O3-TiO2catalysts were identified by means of FTIR-CO adsorption. A correlation between Cu+/Cu2+ abundance and the activity for NO reduction by CO is reported.
