Abstract
This paper describes the operational benefits of linking airport operations to the European air traffic management system by implementing a concept called ‘Airport Collaborative Decision-Making’. The system aims to improve the overall efficiency of operations at an airport, with a particular focus on the aircraft turnaround and pre-departure sequencing process. More accurate airport operations information is used to improve en route and sector planning of the European network, through implementation of a full set of departure planning information messages sent to Eurocontrol's Central Flow Management Unit. Benefits are manifold, including environmental, as improved operations result in less fuelburn, hence less gaseous and noise pollution.
