Abstract

We are now in 2004, the 50th year of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Journal. During the last 50 years, there have been many Canadian Aerospace developments, not only in new aircraft designs, but also in systems, and all the other industries that support Canadian and international aerospace. This paper is a review of some of these developments as reported in the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Journal over the last half century. It is impossible to cover the entire spectrum of development, so the focus has been on some significant developments, both in systems and in aircraft design. In the paper, extracts have been selected from several Journal reports, which show the ingenuity that went into the designs and which has made Canadian Aerospace a leader on the World market. Some of the designs have been extremely successful, while others have not. Nonetheless, in all cases, knowledge has been gained and fed back into the industry and benefited Canadian aerospace.
