Abstract

All internal combustion engines produce exhaust gases containing noxious compounds: carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NO x ), carbon oxides (C x O y ) and exhaust gases. With the help of the mathematical model the concentrations of some dangerous substances at the end of tunnel with unidirectional traffic were calculated, and were replaced with a criterial number. Corresponding software was developed, which makes it possible to do quick and simple calculations for some concentrations and the criterial number. Finally, presented is a correlation between criterial number and the other parameters as a criterion to determine a threshold between natural and forced ventilation.
