Abstract

A study is conducted on a newly designed neonatal infant respiration-monitoring system for detecting the respiratory situation of premature infants. Two kinds of tiny high-quality sensors, a humidity sensor and an air-flow sensor, and an MCS-51 (Intel) single-chip processor are used, which enable both the humidity values to be sensed and displayed quantitatively and the breathing rate monitored with user-settable alarms.
