Abstract

PARK CITY, UTAH-- Outdoors, the air was bracing, the powder fine, and the skiing sublime. Indoors at this recent Keystone meeting, 500 AIDS researchers, fortified with coffee and hot cocoa, discussed and debated the latest research on HIV, the virus that causes the disease. In particular, they surveyed the growing list of cell surface proteins which act as the coreceptors the virus uses to dock onto target cells, and they considered new research on how cytotoxic T lymphocytes keep AIDS at bay in HIV-infected patients.
