Abstract

In the 1980s biomedics faced AIDS for the first time. Since then the pattern of spread in developed countries has changed which has contributed to public misunderstanding. Teachers have a health education role, especially as the incidence of HIV among young people is on the increase. This article notes recent changes, and comments on recent misunderstandings in how HIV is spread in developed countries.
