Abstract

ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence is a key technology driving digital transformation across all economic sectors. The prospects and threats of AI in decision-making have been central to public and research debates recently. This paper explores AI’s impact on decision-making, identifying both opportunities and challenges in healthcare, financial, and technology sectors. Based on a systematic literature review of 118 papers from 2020–2023, the findings show that most scholars are optimistic about AI’s potential. They suggest that the challenges posed by AI can be addressed through technical, regulatory, and managerial approaches. While AI often serves as a cognitive assistant in data collection and evaluation, its role in decision-making is expected to grow as the technology becomes more institutionalized.
