Abstract

The impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the manufacturing sector gives a game changing environment in industries. Every manufacturer aims to find a new way of reducing risks, saving money and to improve the quality of production. This mainly depends upon AI and machine learning-based innovations because there is a large amount of data produced in day-to-day life. Similarly, the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been realized by the Internet of Things (IoT). Although its applications in the manufacturing sector are comparatively few, most are researched without contextual characteristics. This chapter contains an intensive study about how AI and IoT are used for manufacturing industries with different use cases. From this study, the manufacturers and researchers gain knowledge about end-to-end visibility in the manufacturing process using AI and IoT technologies. By examining the major contribution categories and identifying the significant contrasts between conventional and manufacturing Industry 4.0 as well as various facilitators and obstacles of AI and IoT applications, authors try to outline crucial knowledge gaps in the existing literature and practical investigations. Furthermore, this work conducts a critical analysis to look into important AI and IoT applications from the security perspective in the manufacturing Industry.
