Abstract

Philosophy, theology and ta ṣ awwuf are three main disciplines of Islamic thought. Among them, while philosophy and theology give the human intellect priority, according to ta ṣ awwuf, unveiling/intuition is epistemologically more valuable. This book points out some disagreements seen among these disciplines. Especially, we see the negative attitudes of ta ṣ awwuf against the human intellect with references to remarkable Sufis. Therefore, the book that we review is a beneficial source for those who are interested in comparative readings on the epistemologies of theology and ta ṣ awwuf.
