Abstract

As an avid sports fan I was euphoric after the amazing win (demolition!) by the British and Irish Lions of the Aussies in the third and final test to give the visitors the series. I thought this could not get any better but then came the Herculean efforts of Andy Murray to win the Wimbledon Men's Singles title and Chris Froome to win the Tour de France. However, despite these monumental achievements, in my mind these were eclipsed by the bravery and integrity of over 98 per cent of surgeons in England, who gave consent for their individual outcome data from 9 surgical audits to be published.
