Abstract

The wastewater of textile industry comprises of synthetic dyes that discharge into the environment. It decreases the photosynthetic activity and increases the toxicity to living beings. In the current scenario, the elimination of textile dyes from industrial effluents becomes a great environmental threat worldwide because water pollution is the source of some chronic diseases to human beings. There are many techniques that proficiently used for treatment of textile effluents. The textile effluent goes through various physical, chemical, and biological treatment methods for its maximal detoxification. The main aim of this chapter is to describe the technical and economic feasibility of integrated processes for treatment of textile effluents. Agro-waste materials have the ability to efficaciously remove the toxicants from textile effluents being cost-effective and energy saving process. This chapter highlights the usage of agro-waste materials to treat textile effluents in an effective manner and their advantages over other textile effluent treatment processes.
