Abstract

The present investigations show that a close correlation exists between the sum of effective temperatures (above 10°C) and the earliness of maize varieties, and provided the basis for the construction of regression equations by which the heat requirements of various maize varieties and hybrids could be calculated from the number of leaves. Determinations were made of the agrometeorological indices of growth and development for the periods between sowing and germination, and between germination and tasseling, and also of the relationship of yield production and the heat, moisture, and day-length conditions.
