Abstract

The article describes the current situation in the production of polymeric materials, the problems of their utilization and the prospects for the creation of new polymeric biodegradable materials for use in agriculture. Currently, there is a rapid growth in the consumption of polymeric materials. It is shown that the main factors determining the effectiveness of the technology of growing seeds and grains in polymeric materials are the chemical nature and structure of the materials, high diffusion and swelling parameters, which provide moisture supply to the germinating seed. In agriculture, there is virtually no practice of using biodegradable materials based on biopolymers, such as polylactide, polyhydroxybutyrate and other natural polymers. The authors evaluate polymeric materials based on the most produced synthetic polymer - polyethylene, and natural polymers, such as polylactide and natural rubber. The influence of the aquatic environment on the destruction of polymer material when used in the agricultural industry has been established.
