Abstract

There is currently considerable interest in devising and incorporating indicators into (amongst other things) agricultural and agri-environmental policies. The urgency of this process is increasing ahead of the impending World Trade Organization's inaugural scrutiny of such policies, and the perceived need for further reform of the Common Agricultural Policy. Yet consensus on indicator terminology, let alone methodologies and data sources, is far from complete. This paper reviews briefly some of the issues relating to agri-environmental indicators.
