Abstract

This study explains the differences that individual variables (impulsivity, antisocial behavior and disinhibition) have in the prediction of different types of aggression in adolescents. The results obtained from a sample of 640 adolescents, shown that proactive aggression is characterized by antisocial behavior while reactive aggression is characterized by impulsivity. Since both types of aggression often coexist we considered a third type of aggression, mixed type, for those subjects who display both reactive and proactive aggression behaviors. The outcomes indicate that this type of aggression is strongly characterized, like proactive aggression, by antisocial behavior.
