Abstract

Neutropenia is a condition accompanied by a decrease in an absolute neutrophil count (of band and segmented neutrophils) in the peripheral blood to less than 1.0 × 109/l in children under 1 year of age and less than 1.5 × 109/l in children over one year of age and adults. Among neutropenia types, congenital (genetically determined), acquired, and chronic benign neutropenia of childhood are distinguished. Agranulocytosis is a decrease in the level of neutrophils in peripheral blood to less than 0.5 × 109/l.
