Abstract

Utopian literature shows us the ideal future, dystopian literature - quite the opposite. But this definition is only an oversimplification, which is proven by still very limited scholarship existing on the subject. In this paper, using the method of linguistic and linguo-stylistic analysis, I try to determine the position on aging and old age in these two (at first glance) opposite genres. Special focus will be on the Soviet era - more concretely, the period from the October Revolution to the end of the Second World War - with the intention of determining the reflection of the post-Revolution period in literature.
