Abstract
The attractiveness of virgin queens of five age groups was determined using a new bioassay technique; queen attractiveness increased with age. By introducing queens of these age groups to small cages of worker bees, a direct relationship was found between queen attractiveness and worker aggression. The significance of these results is discussed.
