Abstract

The relative aggressiveness of male subjects who held either liberal or traditional beliefs concerning females was investigated as a function of provocation by male and female opponents. Both groups of male subjects reacted aggressively to provocation by male opponents and unaggressively to female opponents. The traditional male subjects were generally more aggressive to their opponents than the liberal male subjects.
