Introduction

Bisoprolol hemifumarate is (RS)-1-[4-[[2-(1Methylethoxy) ethoxy] methyl] phenoxy]-3-[(1methylethyl) amino] propan-2-ol fumarate. Bisoprolol hemifumarate is official, and can be determined in British Pharmacopoeia (BP) [2a] by nonaqueous titration using perchloric acid and in United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) [3a] by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. Buspirone HCl is 8-[4-[4-(Pyrimidin-2-yl) piperazin-1-yl] butyl]-8-azaspiro [4.5] decane-7,9dione hydrochloride. It is an anxiolytic agent from the azapirone class of compounds [1b]. Buspirone hydrochloride is official and can be determined in BP http://www.nanobe.org [2b] by non-aqueous titration with perchloric acid; it is official in USP [3b] which reports HPLC method for its assay. Various analytical methods have been employed for its determination in raw material, pharmaceuticals and biological fluids These methods include chromatography [10], spectrofluorimetry [11] and spectrophotometry [12,13,14]
