Abstract

We present the aggregation of silver perchlorate molecules in Langmuir-Blodgett films, which are generated from the reaction of silver arachidate multilayers with perchloric acid gas. Salt-acid conversion and structural variation of the films are investigated. The morphology of silver perchlorate clusters is visualized using atomic force microscopy. Plate-like clusters with diameters of several nanometres are presumed to result from the assembly of neighbouring smaller particles.
