Abstract

TRANSFORMED cells in vitro permanently display a surface architecture observed in normal cells only during mitosis and early G1 phase. This mitotic membrane configuration is associated with increased binding of fluorescein tagged wheat germ agglutinin1, high agglutinability with plant lectins2,3 and increased sialic acid density of surface glycoproteins3.
