Abstract

The serologic diagnosis of ornithosis in fowl depends upon use of the complement fixation inhibition (CFI) test (5) or the implemented direct complement fixation (IDCF) test (3). There is need for a reliable, more rapid, and simplified test usable for testing large numbers of birds. This is a report of the production of an agglutinating antigen from an ornithosis agent grown in cell cultures. The tests were done with turkey serums since explosive outbreaks of ornithosis have occurred in these birds.
