Abstract

The article discusses the impact of agent orange used during the Vietnam War on civilian and military health. Topics include the lack of reliable data and research on the relationships between herbicide exposures and diseases for which veterans can receive medical attention and benefits, the Institute of Medicine's creation of data sets related to spraying, troop locations, and exposure opportunity, and concerns regarding increased rates of birth defects and risk of diabetes resulting from herbicide exposure.
