Abstract

AbstractThis chapter begins with a discussion of the High Church Doctrine of Cognitive Science, which expresses disillusionment with the view that the computer is the best metaphor of mind. The chapter then explains agency as the ability to represent causal intervention. The purpose of this book is outlined and an overview of the subsequent chapters is presented.
