Abstract

Based on data from the China Family Tracking Survey (CFPS), this paper systematically analyzes the impact of family characteristics on family tourism consumption expenditure under the changing age structure of the population. It is found that an increase in the old-age dependency ratio has a significant inhibitory effect on household tourism consumption expenditures. It is further found that households' increased wage income, integration into new social media, and accumulation of health capital can weaken the inhibitory effect of aging on tourism consumption and strengthen the promotional effect of tourism consumption generated by an increase in the juvenile dependency ratio.
