Abstract

Psychosis onset typically occurs in young adulthood, coinciding with the age of human prefrontal cortex maturation completion. Prefrontal cortex is among the principal brain regions involved in major psychotic disorders like schizophrenia. We hypothesized that age-related prefrontal network connectivity pattern changes are associated with risk for psychosis. We generated multisession fMRI indicators of prefrontal network connectivity in young neurotypical controls (yNC), adult neurotypical controls (aNC), and individuals at familial and clinical high-risk for psychosis (HR).
