Abstract

A 61-year-old man who had undergone bilateral hip replacements for degenerative joint disease suffered a fall on ice in March 2008. He was examined in a local emergency room for an orthopedic evaluation. During workup, plain radiographs of the pelvis showed an incidental calcified left upper quadrant mass. Subsequently, a contrast-enhanced CT scan of the abdomen-pelvis displayed an exophytic renal mass of size 7.7 × 5.9 cm arising from the posterolateral aspect of the left kidney with incomplete calcification in the wall (Fig. 1).
