Abstract

Malondialdehyde (MDA) content was measured in the mitochondrial fractions as well as the whole body homogenates in aging Caryedon serratus. The total MDA content increased continuously and significantly with increasing age in both sexes, whereas the mitochondrial MDA content decreased after the 11th day of age. The decrease may be due to the adaptive changes taking place within mitochondria to decrease lipid peroxidation.
