Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this note is to report new age determinations by the rubidium—strontium (Rb—Sr) method of whole-rock samples from northern Victoria Land in Antarctica. The rocks which have been dated include a specimen of quartz-biotite schist of the Rennick Group and a specimen of muscovite-biotite granite of the Campbell Plutonics from the mountains along the western edge of the upper Rennick Glacier. These specimens were collected by H. S. Gair who has described the geology of this region (Gair, 1967). In addition, we have dated two specimens of felsic volcanic rocks collected by Mr S. J. Carryer in the Gallipoli Heights of the Southern Freyberg Mountains.
