Abstract

(Abstracted from Aging Cell 2017;16:1381–1393) The growing oocyte is one of the most translationally active cells in the body and must accumulate high-quality, maternally derived proteins to support subsequent embryo development. Women of advanced reproductive age are at increased risk of infertility, miscarriages, and birth defects because of a marked decline in oocyte quality.
